Concacaf releases dates and structure for 2024/25 Nations League

April 21 – Concacaf has set dates for its 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League, with group rounds beginning in the international windows of September, October and November, and the final four being played in March 2025.

This will be the fourth edition of Concacaf’s Nations League with the USA having won each of the first three editions, the latest at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas last month in a 2-0 win over Mexico.

All 41 men’s senior national teams in the region will play in three leagues.

The US and Mexico will be joined by Canada and Panama as seeded teams in League 1 in the draw that will take place live on TV on May 6.

League A
Pre-Seeded into the Quarterfinals: Mexico, United States, Panama, and Canada
Pot 1: Jamaica and Costa Rica
Pot 2: Honduras and Guatemala
Pot 3: Trinidad and Tobago and Martinique
Pot 4: Cuba and Guadeloupe
Pot 5: Nicaragua and Suriname
Pot 6: French Guiana and Guyana

Concacaf has brought in the ‘Swiss style’ league system for group play. The 12 nations (excluding Mexico, United States, Panama, and Canada who have been pre-seeded to the quarter finals) will play in two groups of six teams. The first and second place finishers in each group will go through to the Quarterfinals, where they will join the pre-seeded nations.

Concacaf has made the 2023/24 Nations League the qualifier for the 2025 Gold Cup, though full detail of how they will qualify will be released at a later date.

League B will also consist of 16 teams and League C of 9 teams. Each round of group games will be played at a centralised venue instead of the previous home-and-away format.

“This format change will alleviate some of the travel challenges that Member Associations face due to our region’s unique geography and allow them to focus on delivering the best possible football,” said Concacaf.

Promotion and relegations between the leagues will be as follows:

League A: Fifth and sixth-place finishers will be relegated to League B.
League B: Group winners will be promoted to League A and fourth-place finishers will be relegated to League C.
League C: Group winners and the best second-place finisher will be promoted to League B.

League B draw:
Pot 1: Haiti, El Salvador, Curacao, and Dominican Republic
Pot 2: Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Montserrat, and Saint Lucia
Pot 3: Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, and Aruba
Pot 4: Dominica, Bonaire, Saint Martin, and Sint Maarten

League C draw:
Pot 1: Saint Kitts and Nevis, Belize, and Barbados
Pot 2: Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Turks and Caicos Islands
Pot 3: British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands, and Anguilla
