Derbystar gets the Bundesliga ball rolling for next season

May 22 – Derbystar have released the official match ball for Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 ahead of the 2024/25 season.

As part of a partnership that began in 2018/19, the ball represents the latest design from Derbystar who will continue to supply match balls until 2026 after signing a five-year extension was agreed in 2021.

The ball, which is partly made of recycled materials, will make its debut during the German Super Cup on August 17, in which Bayer Leverkusen could be joined by cup rivals FC Kaiserslautern or second-placed Stuttgart depending on the result of the DFB Pokal Final on Saturday evening.

Last year saw an average of 3.2 goals scored per game across a historic season, which saw Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen not only dethrone Bayern Munich as champions, but do it invincible.

“Football is a results-driven sport that is measurable by goals. It’s because of these goals and the emotions they evoke that we visit the stadiums and arenas of our favourite clubs or watch the games on screens. Every fan will have their own favourite Bundesliga goal in mind. The new Derbystar Bundesliga Brilliant APS symbolically captures the goal theme with typical celebration poses on the twelve coloured pentagons,” says Joachim Böhmer, COO of Derbystar.

Derbystar CEO Peter Knap added: “The Bundesliga sets international standards in terms of the number of goals scored. With the new design, we pay tribute to the goal scorers who enthuse us fans with their goals.”

The Bundesliga playoffs begin on Thursday evening as VFL Bochum take on Bundesliga 2 side Düsseldorf In the first match of the two-legged fixture.
