May 23 – Bayern Munich are reported to be in advanced talks over the shock appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new coach.
The Bundesliga club are said to be poised to appoint Kompany, whose Burnley team have just been relegated from the Premier League, to succeed Thomas Tuchel in the coming days having discussed a compensation package.
Bayern are apparently confident of the deal being done and could make the appointment official in the coming days.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has consistently hailed Kompany, who lifted four Premier Leagues as captain during his time at the club, as a possible future manager there.
After a first spell coaching at Anderlecht in his Belgian homeland, he took Burnley into the Premier League in his first managerial job back in England though the Bayern job will represent a huge step up.
Bayern have struggled to find a replacement for Tuchel, whose exit was confirmed last week after initially being announced in February.
