Kitman Labs adds its data solutions to improving performance of Premier League match officials

July 25 – The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) group that officiates all Premier League matches has announced a new partnership with data analytics business Kitman Labs.

The deal will provide match officials and performance support staff with access to a data and analytics platform designed to provide a real-time view of officiating personnel inclusive of performance, training and medical/health data.

Already armed with a roster of Premier League partnerships, Kitman Labs is adapting its platform to give referees a stats-based boost. The data will help develop athletic and cognitive performance of match officials.

“The athletic development and care of our match officials is critical as we continue to play our part in striving to positively contribute to the game. It’s for this reason that we’re investing in the Intelligence Platform to support the continued development of our match officials,” said Dr. Steve McNally , Performance Support Director, PGMOL.

“The new partnership with Kitman Labs allows us to effectively utilise health and athletic performance data to promote best physical and cognitive preparation for match officiating.”

Having signed deals with Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham and Luton Town in the last 12 months, the company is growing partnerships across European football. Their technology is already widely used in the US in the NFL, NBA, MLS and NWSL.

Stephen Smith, Kitman Labs Founder & CEO, said: “The use of the Intelligence Platform by PGMOL showcases the configurability, relevance and power of a single, integrated platform to address the performance needs of diverse stakeholders across Sport. The platform has been developed to aggregate and leverage all data sources in a single platform to ultimately drive collaboration, eliminate information silos and provide actionable intelligence for anyone vested in or responsible for unlocking performance outcomes at the club or league level.”
