FIFA signs first major 2026 sponsorship with Bank of America

August 16 – FIFA has announced Bank of America as an official sponsor for the 2026 World Cup, the first time the organisation has partnered with a bank.

The 2026 finals, which will be hosted across 16 cities – including 11 in the USA – will be the first to feature an expanded 48-team line-up.

The partnership will run until the end of the 2026 World Cup. No value was given for the sponsorship.

Bank of America has a history of supporting major sporting events, but this partnership with FIFA is its first foray into international football. The deal hopes to outline the bank’s commitment to sports as a vehicle for community building and international collaboration.

It also reflects the increasing trend of major financial institutions investing in global sports properties to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino celebrated the partnership, stating: “We are extremely excited to welcome Bank of America as a global sponsor of this ground-breaking FIFA World Cup. Bank of America join Anheuser-Busch InBev, McDonald’s, Mengniu Dairy, and Unilever as 2026 sponsors.
