August 21 – The Albanian Football Federation (FHSF) has sold the naming rights to its top tier club division Kategoria Superiore which will be known as the Abissnet Superiore for the next three seasons.
Founded in 1998 Abissnet is one of the challenger operators in the Albanian telecommunications market, with a broad reach in Tirana and a presence in cities including Durres, Kavaja, Golem, Lushnje, Elbasan, Fier, Korca, Vlora, Shkodra, Kamaz, an Kumanovo.
No value for the deal was given.
“From this edition and in the next three years, namely, 2024/2025, 2025/2026, and 2026/2027, the Superior Category championship will be called Abissnet Superiore,” said an FHSF statement.
“The Albanian Football Federation had opened the rights tender in March of this year and the offer of the Abissnet Company was declared the winner after the auction for the sale of the name of this competition after presenting the best offer.
“The concept of sponsoring the Kategoria Superiore has started since the 2021/2022 season, taking a step forward in the development of domestic football, intending to increase income for football clubs, under the example of the best European championships,” said the FHSF.
