September 4 – Newcastle United have signed a multi-year partnership with Red Bull which will see the Austrian drinks company become the Official Energy Drink Partner of the club, helping to fuel both men’s and women’s teams.
No value was given for the deal that will see Red Bull receive brand exposure on advertising boards at St James’s Park.
In addition to in-stadia branding, Red Bull will supply product to playing staff, the stadium concourses and the club’s fanzone; St. James’ STACK, presented by premium sponsor Sela.
Commenting on the partnership, Newcastle United’s chief commercial officer, Peter Silverstone, said: “Attracting leading brands to Newcastle United continues to be at the forefront of our exciting commercial growth and Red Bull is a fantastic addition to our partnership family.
“This partnership with Red Bull recognises the exciting journey that Newcastle United is on, with our ever-growing digital presence and increased international television audience of 62% in the last 12 months.
“Red Bull has an unrivalled passion for engaging with sports fans around the world, through culturally relevant partnerships and unique events. The club’s global appeal and strong supporter base will continue to establish Red Bull as a market leader in the UK, USA, Middle East and throughout Europe.”
Red Bull have taken a growing interest in English football having last month taken a small ownership stake in Championship club Leeds United who are favourites to return to the Premier League next season, having missed out in the play-offs last season. They also took the club’s shirt sponsorship.
Newcastle have got off to a good start in the Premier League with seven points out of a possible nine, headlined by an important home victory over Spurs at the weekend.
The Premier League returns after the international break on September 14.
