September 13 –Decathlon begins life this month as the new official ball supplier of the Europa League and Conference League in a three-year deal starting with the 2024/25 season.
The France-based sporting goods retail chain that has expanded throughout Europe, had initially announced last November that its Kipsta brand would be the ball supplier but the balls, which are available at retail now, bear the Decathlon name.
Decathlon take over from Molten as ball supplier in a deal that will last until the end of the 2026/2027 campaign. No value was given for the partnership.
“The Decathlon ball has been chosen for the comfort of control given to the players and its accurate landing zone precision, as well as its outstanding grip, which facilitates the driving of the ball in any weather conditions,” said the company.
Developed in France with players from multiple levels of the game, Decathlon boasts it is one of the most tested balls in the world.
It has been awarded with the FIFA quality pro label and uses thermobonding technology to guarantee a better durability of the ball.
