AFC launches Fantasy Football and prediction games for its major competitions

September 16 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released a line-up of new digital interactions for the upcoming AFC Champions Elite season, headlined by a fantasy football app for the Champions League elite.

This follows the success of the AFC Asian Cup Fantasy app launched for the competition in Qatar in early 2024, which garnered a record-breaking number of users.

Users will be given a $100 million budget to assemble a virtual squad of 15 players, with points awarded based on the real-life performances of players in the tournament, which will feature the top 24 clubs in Asia. Strategic tools like Triple Captain, Bench Boost, and Wildcard could prove decisive in determining success.

Up to 10 winners will emerge from Fantasy Football after the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 Final in May 2025, decided on a regional basis. The overall top scorer will receive two tickets to the Champions League Elite 2025/26 Final, including flights and accommodation, as well as a signed jersey from one of the finalists.

A match predictor has also been launched across a number of AFC Competitions, including the Champions League Elite, Champions League Two and AFC Asian Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The AFC said its digital platforms aim to provide Asian football fans with a personalised experience, allowing them to track their preferred teams and players. Additionally, fans will be able to compete for a range of prizes, including match tickets, signed merchandise, and gift vouchers.
