September 18 – The Italian top-flight Serie A and crypto company Socios have renewed their partnership in a three-year deal.
The partnership between has been extended and expanded, focusing on more fan activation and integrating Socios deeper into the landscape of Serie A. Supporters will have the opportunity to buy match balls in even great numbers following the trial of match ball sthat ended up in the net being auctioned to fans.
The collaboration, first launched in 2021, uses blockchain technology to deliver unique fan experiences, with a key focus on offering access to official Game-Scored Balls from major Serie A, Coppa Italia, and EA SPORTS FC Supercup matches.
In the last two seasons, 188 match balls have been claimed by Fan Token holders. This season, the initiative is set to expand again, with Game-Scored Balls from 100 matches—56 more than last year—available for redemption.
“Given the great success of past seasons, starting this year we will give more and more fans the chance to win goal balls, unique and original items that represent an extraordinary collector`s opportunity,” said Lega Serie A Ceo Luigi di Siervo.
“Owning memorabilia of one’s favourite team`s memorable moments represents the ultimate achievement for a fan. From this year, moreover, by simply scanning a QR code during the match, it will be possible to receive all the information to participate in the auction to obtain the balls”.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Socios is owned by the blockchain provider Chiliz.

Socios has a marked presence in the game with ties to FC Barcelona, Arsenal and UEFA among others.
