Ben Yedder escapes detention but faces hearing for sexual assault next month

September 19 – Former French international forward Wissam Ben Yedder has avoided pre-trial detainment ahead of his court appearance on October 15 for sexual assault while intoxicated.

The former AS Monaco and Sevilla striker is alleged to have performed a sex act in front of a young woman in his car while drunk on whisky.

He is reportedly out of police custody but under partial house arrest though Nice public prosecutors unsuccessfully appealed his release.

In a separate legal case last year, Ben Yedder was charged with “rape, attempted rape and sexual assault” over another alleged incident in the south of France.

He has been without a club since his contract with Monaco expired at the end of last season.
