Partizan Belgrade ultras storm changing room and injure coach after record loss to Red Star

September 25 – The chaos swirling around Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade continued in full force on Monday night after an embarrassing 4-0 loss to arch-rivals Red Star Belgrade, the biggest home defeat in Partizan’s history.

The team’s ultras attacked the coaches and players in their dressing room at JNA Stadium.

The windows and the door of the dressing room were coach Aleksandar Stanojevic suffered facial injuries, appearing at the post-match press conference with several patches on his forehead and nose.

There was tension before the match after Partizan fans ploughed part of the pitch at the Partizan Stadium on Sunday evening in an attempt to postpone the game. That ultimately didn’t happen and the game went ahead as scheduled on Monday night.

Some of the extreme factions with Partizan’s support refused to enter the stadium in protest, and remained at the entrances under increased police protection.

“What can be said after such a result, except that it is a shame? For me, the biggest! I apologize to everyone. Red Star showed class compared to us. I take responsibility for all of this. It was the heaviest defeat I have experienced. If it was 0:0, I wouldn’t have come, but I had to respect you. The fans broke the glass in the dressing room, it tore me up. The glass broke and it’s all on me. There was a lot of blood. I only came to pay my respects to you,” Stanojević said to the media after the game.

According to various Serbian sources, Stanojevic has resigned, but there has been no official announcement by the club,
