Italy’s Soccerment picked for MLS Innovation Lab

September 30 – Italian sports technology company Soccerment has been selected to join Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Innovation Lab, as part of the second cohort of the league’s new tech business development initiative.

Launched in 2023, the MLS Innovation Lab is designed to identify and nurture startups and advanced technologies capable of enhancing MLS in areas such as fan engagement, player performance, and media technology.

Soccerment, with its AI-driven data analytics, offers tools to improve performance tracking in football.

Its flagship products, XSEED (smart shinguards) and XVALUE (an advanced analytics platform), provide clubs, academies, and players with in-depth data on athletic, technical, and tactical performance. These insights aim to revolutionise talent development and performance analysis across all levels of the sport.

As part of the 2025 MLS Innovation Lab cohort, Soccerment will test its technology in real-world MLS settings, including high-profile events like MLS NEXT Fest and the MLS NEXT All-Star Game.

Aldo Comi, CEO of Soccerment. “As the first Italian company selected for this prestigious program, this is a significant milestone for us. We look forward to the collaborative opportunities and innovations that will emerge through our work with the MLS community.”

MLS has increasingly backed a push to innovate through technology. In addition to the Innovation Lab, the league has a world-first, 10-year global streaming partnership with Apple, launching the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

MLS has also teamed up with Box to Box Films to produce a soccer docuseries set to air in 2025 as it pushes deeper into the American sports hierarchy.

“The first year of the MLS Innovation Lab was incredibly successful, giving us a structured and strategic program to collaborate with an array of tech companies in real world environments as they tested throughout our ecosystem,” said Chris Schlosser, MLS SVP of Emerging Ventures.

“As we continue at the forefront of innovation among global sports leagues, we’re even more excited for our upcoming work with Soccerment and the rest of the second cohort of the MLS Innovation Lab as we co-create new ideas and push the boundaries in the game of soccer.”
