October 9 – The Premier League recorded an impressive 98.6% average stadium capacity across match week 7 fixtures.
This figure, nearly 1% higher than at the same point last season.
Only 5,302 seats were left empty across the entire weekend of fixtures. Every club demonstrated robust support, with Chelsea and Everton tying for the lowest attendance percentage, still managing a solid 97.92% capacity. This reflects a rare dip for both clubs but still speaks to the high demand for Premier League football, even in challenging times for some teams.
West Ham saw the highest attendance of the match week, packing in 62,010 spectators to watch their side cruise to a stylish 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town. The result gave fans more than enough reason to celebrate, as Julen Lopetegui’s men finally delivered a compelling display to reward its outstanding support season-round.
Manchester City, meanwhile, entered the 99% attendance club for the first time this season, with over 55,000 fans witnessing their 3-1 win over Fulham.
With the Etihad Stadium’s capacity set to expand beyond 60,000 next season, City’s fanbase is likely to ensure near-capacity crowds becoming the norm, provided the club can navigate potential sanctions related to their ongoing legal issues with the Premier League.
Arsenal not only impressed on the pitch, securing a comeback win against Southampton, but also claimed the highest attendance percentage for the week. The Emirates Stadium hit 99.35% capacity, the club’s best figure in two years.
