Ronaldo injects further €5m into LaLiga’s Valladolid taking stake over 80%

October 23 – Former Brazilian striker-turned-club-owner Ronaldo has injected €5.1 million into Tara Sports 2018, through which he controls his majority share in La Liga side Real Valladolid, as the Brazilian continues efforts to sell the club- a process he began in May 2023.

Currently, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner holds 82.7% of the club’s shares, managing 51% through Tara Sports and another 21.7% directly, with an additional 10% acquired from former honorary president Carlos Suárez.

The new capital injection values the club at just over €100 million. This figure corresponds with a failed bid in June 2023 when an €80 million offer for an 80% stake fell through following Valladolid’s relegation to the Segunda División.

Last season the club won promotion back to the top tier but currently lie in 18th and a relegation position after 10 games.

Ronaldo, who is president of the club, has invested around €33 million in Valladolid since 2018 and continues to look for a buyer, with a rejected €28.7 million bid from construction company Inexo among the offers received.

While some reports hint at Ronaldo’s desire to sell, Real Valladolid’s Corporate Director, Jorge Santiago, reassured fans that Ronaldo remains committed to the club’s legacy. However, Santiago acknowledged that if an offer meets expectations, it will be considered, leaving room for a potential future sale.

The two-time World Cup winner agreed to sell his stake in embattled Brazilian football club Cruzeiro back in April. He bought the indebted Club in 2021 for roughly $78 million and reportedly sold it for almost $117 million, marking almost $40 million profit.
