Verizon connects with NYCFC as club progresses new stadium plans

October 23 – New York City FC have announced a new multi-year deal with Verizon which will make it the club’s Official Wireless Partner, as the CFG club gears up for significant off-pitch development.

Through the new partnership, Verizon will partner with the Club’s Youth Programs team and non-profit foundation, City in the Community (CITC), which aids local New Yorkers.

Verizon branding feature in-stadium at MLS home matches and across New York City FC digital channels. Additionally, starting next season, Verizon will become the entitlement partner of the Field Pass Area for all New York City FC MLS regular season home matches.

“We are excited to partner with Verizon to collaborate on bettering and empowering New Yorkers’ lives,” said Ara Sarajian, Head of Partnership Development, New York City FC. “Whether it’s through our Youth Programs or with City in the Community, we will work to provide New York youth with more free soccer programming and help better prepare them for the future.”

No value or terms was given for the deal.

“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with New York City FC,” said Chris Flood, Atlantic North Market President, Verizon. “Both of our organizations are committed to supporting and empowering the community through meaningful connections and programming, and we are excited for the positive impact that we will have locally by working together.”

The partnership comes at a busy time for the City Football Group club, having announced plans to build the first-ever soccer-specific stadium in New York City in Willets Point, Queens, by 2027. Last week, the club provided its first insight into what the ground will have to offer, unveiling first renders of the ‘City Square’ fan area.

Among its many functions, City Square will be home to the “Five Boroughs Food Hall” in the stadium.

NYCFC said in a release to fans, “We are passionate about and committed to bringing the diverse flavors of Queens – and all of New York City – to City Square.

“We look forward to working with some of the best local vendors and suppliers from around the five boroughs as we get further along in the process to opening our stadium.”
