November 1 – Manchester United manager target Ruben Amorim says there will be clarification over his expected move following Sporting’s league game against Estrela tonight.
“After the game, we will have the decision made,” Amorim said. “It will be very clear.”
The 39-year-old’s growing reputation and two Portuguese league titles in four seasons attracted United who fired Erik Ten Hag on Monday with the team 14th in the English Premier League.
Reports in English and Portuguese media suggest Amorim will move to Old Trafford during the next international break later this month. That would make his first Man United game November 24 at Ipswich.
Ironically one of Amorim’s likely final games in charge of Sporting is likely to be hosting Manchester City on Tuesday in the Champions League.
United were led by interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy on Wednesday and beat Leicester 5-2 in the League Cup.
Van Nistelrooy, a former Man United star striker who returned last summer to assist his Dutch compatriot Ten Hag, seems set to coach the side for three more home games: Chelsea on Sunday, PAOK in the Europa League, and Leicester again in the Premier League on November 10.
