November 1 – Adidas, one of the world’s leading sports brands, and Championship club, Leeds United, have officially announced an extension of their partnership first signed for the 2020/21 season.
As the official kit partner of Leeds, Adidas will produce all playing and training outfits across the entire playing and backroom staff. With one of the most passionate fan bases in English football, shirt sales for the 2024/25 season have already achieved record-breaking numbers.
The away kit, often derided by fans sold 15,000 units within 24 hours of its release, shattering the previous sales record. Both Adidas and Leeds believe that quality, design, and innovation are behind the increased success in sales.
Adidas Vice President of Brands, Christopher Walsh said: “We are thrilled to extend our successful partnership with Leeds United. Leeds United is a club with a rich history and a passionate fan base, and we are proud to be a part of their journey. We look forward to creating more iconic kits and apparel that excites, and energizes fans both in the UK and around the world. Together, we will continue pushing boundaries in performance, style, and innovation on and off the pitch.”
Leeds United, COO, Morrie Eisenberg echoed those thoughts saying: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited that we have extended our partnership with Adidas. We have built such a strong relationship over the last few seasons, and it is great that we can now continue collaborating with the fantastic team at Adidas. The brand is one of the most recognizable names in sports, and we have really enjoyed working alongside them on not only kit designs and launches but also limited-edition ranges such as Originals and the recently released Spezials range.”
With Leeds currently in 3rd place and pushing hard for promotion back to the Premier League, American businessman, Paraag Marathe, and Jed York, who run 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group, an investment arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, will be seeking to expand the Leeds reach to American shores.
With US players finding Leeds an attractive home, with the likes of Brenden Aaronson following in the steps of Weston McKennie, and Tyler Adams at Elland Road, the Leeds brand is gaining a global following in the most lucrative market on the planet.
