November 15 – Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly all lodged legal notices reserving the right to claim compensation if Manchester City are found to have breached Premier League financial rules.
The four clubs want to preserve their right to compensation amid concerns over the statute of limitations preventing them from doing so.
The ongoing case is being handled by an independent regulatory commission, with a decision not expected until next year. City were charged with 115 breaches of top-flight rules in February last year, all of which the club have always strenuously denied.
An independent commission hearing in the case began on September 16 and was reported at the time to be scheduled for 10 weeks.
Due to concerns that waiting for the verdict might make it too late for compensation, the four clubs have decided to act now.
Interestingly, Chelsea have opted not to pursue any compensation claim against City, largely due to their own ongoing FFP investigation, which involves alleged financial irregularities dating back to the Roman Abramovich era.
