November 19 – The president of the North Macedonian Football Federation (FFM), Muamed Sejdini (pictured), has resigned, two months after he was attacked by masked men in the centre of Skopje.
The announcement was made after North Macedonia’s final game in the Nations League against the Faroe Islands, which saw the Balkan team won 1-0 and qualify for League B.
Sejdini has been the president of the FFM for the last seven years, during which North Macedonia achieved their greatest football successes, playing for the first time in Euro 2020 and securing second place in the qualification group for the World Cup.
The new president of FFM will be elected at an extraordinary meeting on December 22.
“After seven extraordinary years filled with historical achievements, I decided to retire from the position of president of the Football Federation of Macedonia,” saind Seijdini.
“The decision is the result of my thinking that the time has come for change, after the period that will be remembered as the most successful in our football history.
“Together with you, we wrote the golden pages for Macedonian football: the historic participation in the EURO 2020, second place in the qualifying group for the World Championship and the unforgettable victory over Italy in Palermo, success in the League of Nations with placement in League B and the realisation of numerous infrastructure projects in collaboration with UEFA and FIFA,” he continued.
“We are leaving this position with pride and great gratitude to everyone who contributed to these successes: footballers, selectors, clubs, investors, administration, members of the Board of Directors, and every football fan.”
