December 2 – UEFA has unveiled its Women’s Euro 2025 mascot, Maddli, a Saint Bernard puppy, named after Madeleine Boll, the first ever female licensed footballer in Switzerland.
Maddli made her first appearance today – surprising children and passengers at Cornavin railway station in Geneva, before taking the train to Zurich ahead of Switzerland’s friendly match against Germany at the Stadion Letzigrund.
Saint Bernards are renowned rescue dogs from Switzerland, admired for their bravery, gentle nature, and remarkable ability to assist in life-saving missions in challenging alpine environments.
Maddli comes with a set of core values. “She believes football is for everyone, and she invites all fans of all ages to come together, celebrate their unique talents, and find their place in the game at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025,” said UEFA.
“She stands up for fair play, kindness, and staying true to yourself, inspiring everyone around her with her endless energy. More than just a mascot, Maddli is a friend and a symbol of unity, reminding us that the love for football shall bring us together.”
There is seven months to go before Women’s EURO 2025 kicks off in Switzerland on July 2, with the final being played July 27.
Maddli will be used within the UEFA Football in Schools programme which aims to inspire the youngest generations into football and embrace healthy lifestyles. A dedicated Women’s EURO 2025 platform featuring Maddli will be introduced closer to the tournament. It will be designed to enourage children to play football and learn the values of fair play, respect, teamwork, and leadership.
