Concacaf adds centralised final four format for Nations League’s B and C divisions

December 13 – Concacaf is expanding its Nations League B and C divisions to include a final four competition, starting with the 2026/27 edition.

Currently only League A has a Finals competition, which sees the top four qualified teams compete in a centralised venue, playing semi-finals, a third-place play-off and a final.

The finals have been played three times and the US have own each edition in Denver, Las Vegas and Houston. In 2025 the finals will be played at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in March.

While the Concacaf Gold Cup is still the confederation’s blue riband men’s national team event, the intensity of the first three editions of the Nations League finals have immediately established them as a key event in Concacaf’s competition structure.

The addition of the final four format and the qualification process to making the finals will bring added competitiveness and profile to Leagues B and C and the nations competing.

Concacaf president Victor Montagliani said: “The introduction of the Concacaf Nations League in 2018 transformed men’s national team football in Concacaf. The year-round tournament has allowed all Member Associations to consistently play meaningful and competitive matches and strive to reach their next level. All of this has led to increased exposure of teams and players internationally.

“With the exciting addition of centralized Finals for Leagues B and C, every league will now crown its own champion and provide an unprecedented opportunity for all 41 Member Associations to compete for a trophy.”
