January 3 – Everton have announced test events at their new stadium at Bramley-Moore dock which will replace their iconic Goodison Park venue this summer.
The three test events will allow both supporters to get a sneak peek of the state-of-the-art venue and the club to obtain the licence and safety certificates required to operate at full capacity next season.
On Monday, February 17, Everton’s U18 will play at the new venue in front of 10,000 fans. Tickets will be allocated to the club’s season ticket holders and club members via a ballot system. In a second event, the U21 side will take to the field in front of 25,000 supporters in March or April. A third event will also be held later on in the year.
Everton will move to their new waterfront home for the start of the new season. At a cost of £800 million, the stadium will house 52,300 fans.
A venue for the 1966 World Cup, Goodison Park has been Everton’s home since 1892. Goodison Park has staged more top-flight games than any other stadium in England. The site will be redeveloped after the club move away.
Everton’s new stadium will serve as a venue for Euro 2028 when England will co-host the tournament.
