January 9 – Current UEFA Champions League and La Liga holders Real Madrid are flying high in more ways than one after Emirates, the Official Main Partner of Real Madrid, revealed a special livery on one of its Boeing 777 aircraft.
Upon landing in Jeddah for the Spanish Super Cup tournament, which runs from January 8-12, the fans and ground control were treated to a new livery featuring some of the team’s star players, including Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Luka Modrić, Jude Bellingham, Lucas Vázquez, and Federico Valverde.
The marketing idea is to create a feeling of connectedness with fans around the world with the plane operating on routes to cities such as Athens, Vienna, Miami, Seattle, and Kuwait.
Emirates began operating flights to Madrid in 2010 offering a double daily service using a mix of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. This partnership with Real Madrid further strengthens the airline’s ties to Spain, and the city of Madrid.
The Dubai government that owns and controls the Emirates name has a long-standing interest in football currently sponsoring AC Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Benfica, as well as naming rights for the FA Cup, UAE Pro League and the Emirates Stadium in North London.
Emirates has been the club’s jersey sponsor since 2013, and this collaboration, which extends until 2026, marks the longest jersey sponsorship in La Liga history.
