January 21 – With the 2026 World Cup only 507 days away, Local Organising Committees (LOC) are beginning to step into action, and one of the most active is in Seattle, and the state of Washington who recently announced that they will be partnering with nine locations across the state to host fan zones.
The main hub will be the Seattle Fan Celebration hosted at the Seattle Center, however, the demand by fans has led SeattleFWC26 to seek partnerships with communities outside of King County to create vibrant fan zones in order to ensure that as many Washingtonians as possible can be part of this event.
The additional locations will be…
- Bellingham – Whatcom County
- Bremerton – Kitsap County
- Everett – Snohomish County
- Olympia/Lacey – Thurston County
- Pasco/Richland/Kennewick (Tri-Cities) – Benton & Franklin Counties
- Spokane – Spokane County
- Tacoma – Pierce County
- Vancouver – Clark County
- Yakima – Yakima County
The LOC has enlisted the help of local TV utilising FOX 13 Seattle, a broadcast partner of FIFA World Cup 26, to support fan zones across the state.
CEO of SeattleFWC26, Peter Tomozawa said: “The World Cup brings the entire world together around their love of soccer and their country. We’re excited to work with these nine communities to bring the thrill of the FIFA World Cup 2026 experience to all corners of Washington state.”
The Mayor of Bellingham, Kim Lund is equally on board saying: “Bellingham is ready to get in the game for FIFA World Cup 2026! From waterfront watch parties to showcasing our unrivaled recreation opportunities, we can’t wait to show off the best of the Pacific Northwest. We are harnessing our uniquely Bellingham energy to make the Bellingham fan zone an unforgettable experience now, and a legacy for our future.”
Washington State has long been a supporter of the beautiful game through their passionate support of the Seattle Sounders in MLS and the Seattle Reign in the NWSL.
This summer Seattle will host group matches in Club World Cup, which Seattle Sounders have qualified for.
