Feeding the 28 million. Liverpool open Indonesian retail store

January 23 – Life is good for Liverpool FC. They are top of the Premier League, top of the Champions League, and aiming to become the most popular club in the Asian market after launching their second official retail store in Indonesia, located in Surabaya.

The store officially opened its doors on January 18, with former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey cutting the ribbon. Heskey then hung around to chat with fans before attending a live screening of Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brentford alongside the Official Liverpool Supporters Club – BigReds.

The new store replicates the design concepts seen in Liverpool FC’s flagship store at Liverpool ONE, which is cutting edge while paying homage to the club’s rich and storied history. The merchandise at the store includes replica kits, fashion, and souvenirs.

Lee Dwerryhouse, Senior Vice-President of Merchandising at Liverpool FC said: “We have over 28 million LFC followers in Indonesia, and it’s great to bring our LFC brand closer to our supporters so they can feel a part of the club. This latest store opening extends our portfolio in Asia and underscores our ambitious plans to grow our international presence in key markets.”

The club have partnered with the Kanmo Group, and co-founder and managing director, Manoj Bharwani, believes that the worldwide expansion of the Liverpool brand can only bring more success. “Following the successful opening of the first Liverpool FC store in Jakarta last year, we have been delighted by the overwhelming enthusiasm and positive response from the club’s loyal fans in Indonesia,” Bharwani.

This opening represents Liverpool 18th global retail location with the Reds announcing plans to open an additional store in Denmark in 2025, further signaling their ambition to connect with supporters worldwide through a growing retail network.

Rajbir Chopra, sales director at Weston Corporation, sees this is another opportunity to strengthen the ties with the region saying: “With the opening of our second LFC store in Surabaya, we are confident that this momentum will only continue, helping us to strengthen our connection with the fans in Indonesia.”
