January 30 – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the new dates for this year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN), a tournament promoting home-based talent and featuring only players based in domestic leagues.
Earlier this month, just weeks before the tournament was due to kick off in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, the competition was postponed until the summer due to infrastructural and technical issues.
Now, following a CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Rabat, the original February 1-28 dates have been rescheduled to August 2-30.
The Executive Committee also received a detailed update on the preparations for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) being staged in Morocco.
Six cities and nine stadiums have been selected for Africa’s flagship football tournament, which will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 in Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes, and Tangier.
