Adidas release Lisbon-themed ball for Women’s Champions League

February 7 – As the 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League enters its decisive knockout phase, a new star is set to take centre stage. UEFA and adidas have unveiled the tournament’s latest official match ball, inspired by Lisbon, the host city for this season’s final.

Set to debut in the quarter-finals on March 18, the ball’s design pays tribute to Portugal’s vibrant capital with a striking white and blue base, accented by bursts of orange and yellow. The detailing on the star-shaped panels takes inspiration from Lisbon’s famed azulejos – the ornate porcelain tiles that decorate the city’s historic buildings.

Beyond aesthetics, the ball incorporates adidas’ latest innovations to enhance performance:

– Prisma Surface Technology – A unique texture to improve swerve and precision.

– Textured Outer Coating – A thermally bonded, seamless construction for superior grip, control, and durability.

– CTR-CORE Technology – An advanced core designed for consistency and accuracy, featuring a zero-waste bladder made from renewable natural rubber.

The launch also comes with a social impact component. Through its partnership with Common Goal, adidas will donate 1% of global net sales from all its footballs, including this new release, to initiatives supporting under-resourced communities worldwide.

For those eager to own a piece of the action, the ball is available for purchase now via adidas stores, selected retailers, and online. With the knockout rounds fast approaching, the countdown is on for another thrilling chapter in women’s football, which only continues to grow year on year.
