February 11 – Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia have signed a new sponsorship agreement with the country’s largest telecom company, A1, with the company’s logo set to take its place on the back of the first team’s shirts.
The first agreement between CSKA and A1 dates back to 2016, when the telecom was the club’s main sponsor, a role currently fulfilled by bookmakers WINBET.
A1, part of A1 Group, is Bulgaria’s leading digital services and telecommunications solutions provider. The company provides mobile and fixed services, high-speed internet, interactive, digital, satellite and mobile television, four sports channels under the MAX Sport brand, payment services, ICT, cloud and IoT business solutions.
In 2023, A1 Bulgaria reported revenues of €749.7 million, and comparable EBITDA of €303.7 million euros.
In a statement, A1 welcomed the news: “A1 and PFC CSKA announce a new strategic partnership aimed at the development of Bulgarian sports.
“Within the framework of this cooperation, A1 becomes the main technological partner of CSKA in a number of sports initiatives and socially significant projects. As part of the new contract, the A1 logo will take a place on the back of the kits of the first men’s team of CSKA. In addition, the logo will be presented at the training base in Pancharevo, as well as on the LED system during home matches.
“For the first time, the telecommunications company supported the team in 2016. Today, CSKA aims to be more than a sports institution, becoming a socially responsible club that supports talents from early childhood and stands behind socially significant causes,”
Senior Marketing Director at A1 Bulgaria Simeon Donev added: “For A1, sport is a driving force for development, building discipline and striving for top results. We invest in many sports because we believe that Bulgarian athletes embody the spirit of success and inspire the young.
“CSKA is a club with a long history, whose ambition and will to win coincide with our values. This partnership is not just support for a team, but an investment in the future of Bulgarian sport. Together with CSKA, we will continue to inspire, develop and build winners – both on and off the pitch.”
Magdalina Andreeva, Marketing Director of CSKA, also welcomed the announcement: “The conclusion of a partnership with A1 is yet another proof that CSKA is not just a football club, but an institution with enormous social influence.
“We are delighted to join forces with a partner who shares our passion for success and our mission to support Bulgarian sport.”
