February 12 – Sami Trabelsi has been reappointed as Tunisia’s head coach, marking his second tenure with the Carthage Eagles.
A former Tunisia defender, Trabelsi previously led the national team from 2011 to 2013 but stepped down after their early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Earlier this week, the Tunisian Football Federation announced his return, replacing Faouzi Benzarti, who was dismissed in October.
Trabelsi’s primary objective will be securing Tunisia’s spot in the 2026 World Cup, with the team currently leading its qualifying group. In March, Tunisia play Liberia away before hosting Malawi at home. At the last World Cup in Qatar, Tunisia failed to get out of their group.
Trabelsi represented Tunisia at the 1998 World Cup in France where the North Africans finished bottom of Group G following a draw against Romania but defeats to both England and Colombia. At club level, he played the majority of his career at Sfaxien.
