Wednesday 19 – Online bookmaker Stake.com, who are the short sponsors of Everton but have been banned in the UK, have turned their attention to South America and announced a front-of-shirt sponsorship with Chilean Primera División side, Club Deportivo Ñublense.
Following removal from the UK market the Easygo-owned betting operator said it would focus on existing Italian and Brazilian sponsorships. It has an existing deal with Brazilian Serie A side Juventude and has another five club sponsorships globally.
No value was given for the one-season sponsorship of Ñublense who will compete next season in the Copa Libertadores for just the second time in their 109-year history.
Nikkita Thomas, Head of Sponsorship, at Stake, said: “Ñublense are a fantastic club, with a rich history and great fan base. We saw a real underdog story last season as they made it to the final of Copa Chile, and their involvement in the Copa Libertadores is something we are very excited about. We are really passionate about expanding our footprint across Latin America.”
While the bookie is expanding in Latin America, it is closing down its UK website. It still has a year to run on its three-year Everton shirt sponsorship. The bookmaker holds betting licenses in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Italy, as well as Ontario-Canada, Mexico and Paraguay.

“This sponsorship will allow our club to continue its growth, reaching new audiences and offering more experiences to our fans.”
Stake.com fell foul of UK regulators after a social media promotional video shot outside Nottingham Trent University where porn actress Bonnie Blue said she was there “as promised” to “sleep with 180 barely-legal 18 years olds”. Exciting times ahead for the Chileans.
