Juventus over the moon with ground-breaking Lunar Outpost partnership

March 11 – Serie A giants Juventus have previously spent time conquering European and Italian football, and they have now set their sights on the moon after announcing a partnership with Lunar Outpost, an aerospace company focused on space mobility and sustainability.

The partnership saw Juve play a role in Lunar Voyage 1. This mission successfully landed the first-ever MAPP rover at Mons Mouton in the lunar South Pole, making Juventus the first football club to be associated with a moon landing.

Mike Armstrong, chief marketing officer at Juventus, said: “Juventus has always been driven by a spirit of innovation and discovery, and our partnership with Lunar Outpost extends that vision. As the first football club to be part of a lunar mission, we are proud to support the continued exploration of space. This is a testament to our relentless pursuit to break new ground in the world of sport.”

Lunar Outpost founder and CEO Justin Cyrus stated: “Partnering with Juventus allows us to engage new audiences in the excitement of space travel. Together, we are inspiring curiosity about what’s possible beyond Earth, while also exploring sustainable solutions that could benefit life on our planet.”

Unfortunately, for both Juventus and Lunar Outpost, the MAPP later toppled over, leading the Texas-based Lunar Outpost to issue a statement.

“With the direction of the sun, the orientation of the solar panels and extreme cold temperatures in the crater, Intuitive Machines does not expect Athena to recharge,” it said. “The mission has concluded and teams are continuing to assess the data collected throughout the mission.”

With Juventus currently nine points behind Inter Milan in the race for the Scudetto title, “over the moon”’ won’t be the phrase they’re shouting in Turin right now.
