Brazilian giants rebrand club TV channel from ‘Fla TV’ to ‘Flamengo TV’

March 19 – To boost subscriptions, Brazilian club Flamengo have rebranded their in-house TV from ‘Fla TV’ to ‘Flamengo TV’.

Earlier this week, Flamengo announced a relaunch of their club TV channel with a new name and a famous cast of journalists. The logo and layouts of the channel have been changed and the slogan reads ‘the most beloved’.

João Guilherme, formerly of Fox, and presenter Dani Boaventura, formerly of ESPN, will be the main anchors of Flamengo TV. New programs will be rolled out with ‘Nação News’, ‘Mengo Cast’ and ‘Por Dentro do Ninho’. Youth games, women’s football and other sports will also be broadcast.

Today, the channel has seven million subscribers, but Flamengo want to capitalise on its fanbase which spans about 40 million supporters across Brazil.

“I always had the idea that Flamengo was like Disney, an amusement park, and that it even had a soccer team,” said club president Luiz Eduardo Baptista.

“Everyone is fascinated by the games that are held every three or four days, but I have a basic idea that you can bring a bit of that world in a more structured way. Flamengo TV was born as the most beloved because it is the desire of 45 million fans.”

Last Sunday, the Rio club won the Carioca Championship defeating crosstown rivals Fluminense to earn local bragging rights for the rest of 2025. Flamengo and Fluminense drew 0-0, but Filipe Luis’ team had won the first leg 2-1. On the sidelines of the match, local police arrested around 20 fans.
