March 21 – Marriott Bonvoy has been unveiled as the latest heavyweight partner of Hong Kong’s soon-to-be-opened Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP), in a multi-year deal that positions the global hotel group at the heart of Asia’s newest sports and entertainment hub.
As the exclusive Founding Hotel Partner, Marriott Bonvoy’s tie-up with KTSP follows HSBC’s appointment as Premier Founding Partner in January, underlining the commercial firepower behind the HK$30 billion mega-venue. Both deals fall under the ‘Championing Hong Kong’ Partnership Programme, designed to bolster community sports, health, and cultural initiatives while showcasing the city on the global stage.
KTSP is expected to open its doors in the coming days, with preparations in full swing ahead of Hong Kong’s flagship Rugby Sevens tournament at the end of March.
The first official images of the stadium, released at the turn of the year, reveal the scale of the development, which will host international football matches, concerts, and other large-scale events.
Sources close to the Hong Kong Football Association suggest Tottenham Hotspur are close to sealing a deal to play at the venue this summer, with local fans eager to see Son Heung-Min, a major star in Southeast Asia, take the pitch. Manchester United and FC Barcelona are also rumoured as potential summer guests.
Through the deal, Marriott Bonvoy members will gain access to exclusive experiences via the Marriott Bonvoy Moments platform. The partnership also offers Marriott valuable exposure in a region eager to re-establish itself as a global events destination in the post-pandemic era.
“We are excited to partner with Kai Tak Sports Park to offer guests and members once-in-a-lifetime experiences in Hong Kong’s latest hub for culture, entertainment and sports.” said Betty Tian, Managing Vice President, Customer, Greater China, Marriott International.
“Marriott Bonvoy strives to inspire how people want to live their lives and travel. We look forward to working with KTSP to support Hong Kong’s vibrant events scene, and amplify its success on the world stage.”
John Sharkey, Chief Executive Officer, KTSP, said: “This partnership sets new standards for world-class hospitality and entertainment. Together with Marriott Bonvoy, we will continue to deliver exhilarating and memorable experiences for the enjoyment of Hong Kong, Asia and the world. In turn, we will provide unique and extraordinary moments to Marriott Bonvoy’s guests and members.”
With global brands now flocking to the project, KTSP is shaping up to be more than just a stadium – it’s a flagship symbol of Hong Kong’s ambition to reassert its place on the international sports map.
