CBF’s aim to grow Brazilian women’s football receives Globo renewal boost

March 25 – Globo, the giant of Brazilian broadcasting, has renewed its right agreement with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) to air elite men’s and women’s competitions.

The package is a smorgasbord featuring the Supercopa do Brasil, women’s top-tier Brasileirão Feminino, the under-20 and under-17 age-group youth tournaments, as well as Brazilian women’s national team friendlies. These competitions will air on the TV Globo Network as well as the SporTV pay-TV network.

CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Globo, which is part of the CBF’s strategy to further grow women’s football in the country.

“The visibility of Globo’s screens will also help to broadly transform the clubs and the women’s football product as a whole.”

The women’s competitions section of the agreement includes Globo broadcasting friendlies played by the Brazilian women’s national team in the run-up to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with SporTV covering 12 games exclusively and Globo showing four.

The original deal was struck in January 2022 and illustrates Globo’s desire to be at the forefront of Brazilian women’s soccer ahead of the World Cup in 2027, which follows their successful efforts in France and Australia.
