March 27 – All 16 teams for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup have now qualified following the completion of the preliminary round play-offs last night.
Costa Rica put six goals past Belize to win the tie 13-1 on aggregate, Jamaica, held to a draw away in St Vincent, scored three unanswered goals at home to go through, while Honduras added a 2-0 home win to their 5-3 away win against Bermuda to go through.
The tie of the round was Guatemala’s 2-0 home win over Guyana who overcame a 3-2 deficit. Suriname and Guadeloupe both secured their second 1-0 wins against Martinique and Nicaragua to qualify. Trinidad put four past Cuba to prevent their return to the Gold Cup for the only the second time since 2002 (though they have twice withdrawn).
They join the already qualified Canada, Mexico, Panama, and the United States (Nations League quarter final winners) who will be top four seeds for group stage draw on April 10.
Curaçao, Dominican Republic,El Salvador, and Haiti (Nations League B winners) will be the second seeds in the group draw. Guest nation Saudi Arabia will be seeded in pot 4.
Current Gold Cup and Nations League Champions Mexico will kick off the finals at the SoFi Stadium on June 14. The tournament will be played across 14 stadiums and 11 metropolitan areas in the US and Canada, finishing with the final at the NRG Stadium in Houston on July 6.
Five of the stadia – AT&T Stadium (Dallas), BC Place (Vancouver), Levi’s Stadium (San Jose), NRG Stadium (Houston), and SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles) – will be World Cup venues in 2026.
