Yamal’s new Kings League franchise wildcarded into World Cup

April 2 – Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has made his first major move off the pitch, launching his own Kings League franchise, La Capital CF. The announcement, streamed live on Monday, marks Yamal’s entry into the growing world of football-entertainment, a space that has attracted top players, influencers, and brands looking to engage with the next generation of football fans.

La Capital CF will replace Sergio Agüero’s Kunisports team in the Kings League’s Spanish division, as the former Argentina international shifts his team’s focus to the Americas. The move reinforces the global expansion strategy of Gerard Piqué’s Kings League, which blends traditional football with digital-era entertainment and already has backing from major brands and streaming platforms.

With a wildcard entry into the Kings League World Cup, La Capital CF will also have a presence on the league’s biggest stage, giving Yamal’s project instant international exposure.

His team will feature popular football streamer Lautaro Damian del Campo, aka ‘La Cobra’, adding further appeal to the Kings League’s core audience of young, digitally engaged fans. It is important to note that Yamal will not feature on the pitch for his team – it is purely a presidential role.

Yamal’s decision to name the club La Capital CF is a nod to his roots in Rocafonda, a neighborhood in Mataró, Spain. “We call our neighbourhood ‘the capital’. For us, it’s the most important place in Spain,” he said during the reveal.

The club’s official kit, unveiled alongside Gerard Piqué, features a sky-blue and pink colour scheme, with Adidas as the official kit supplier.

Yamal’s investment in the Kings League adds to the growing list of footballers venturing into entrepreneurial and media-driven football ventures. As the Kings League continues to attract sponsors and build digital audiences, La Capital CF could prove to be a strategic move to solidify Yamal’s personal brand beyond traditional football.
