Zingarevich to hand 30% of Botev shares to fans’ trust to manage sale

April 7 – Botev Plovdiv owner Anton Zingarevich has taken another step towards releasing a 30% stake in the club. A few days ago the Russian businessman announced that he intends to sell the shares to fans. Now he intends to give them away.

Zingarevich, who is banned from entering Bulgaria, has had difficulties in carrying out banking operations in the country. To overcome this he plans to donate 30% of his shares, free of charge, to the ‘Trust PFC Botev’, which is managed by the team’s fans.

Once Trust PFC Botev officially holds the shares, they will put them up for sale to any individual or legal entity that has expressed interest. The money collected will be forwarded to the club.

“The main purpose of the Trust Professional Football Club Botev is to be the keeper of the history and the traditions of Botev and to be a strong and active connection between the football club and its fans,” said the trust.

“Trust Professional Football Club Botev is a member of the Bulgarian football union, owns a minor share in Botev Plovdiv football club and possesses the legal rights of its current historical logo. The membership in the Trust is open to any fan of Botev, after paying the annual fee. The trust has a management board that consists of 5 members.”

The club said in a statement: “We inform you that the realization of the stated desire of Mr. Anton Zingarevich to find partners among the ‘yellow-black’ community who will purchase part of the club’s shares will be carried out in full transparency. Given the difficulties for Mr. Zingarevich to carry out banking operations in Bulgaria, as well as to avoid speculation about the goals of the upcoming campaign, we state the following:

“Mr. Zingarevich decided that the 30% of the shares of PFC Botev, owned by the company ‘Lucid Football Holding BG’ EOOD, announced for sale, will be given FREE OF CHARGE to the ‘Trust Professional Football Club Botev’, which will guarantee the transparency and goals of the campaign. After the acquisition of the shares by the ‘Trust Professional Football Club Botev., they will be put up for sale to any natural or legal person who has expressed interest. The funds raised will be contributed to the capital of the joint-stock company.”
