April 14 – Concacaf’s Gold Cup will open at the SoFi Stadium and bounce between San Jose, San Diego, Vancouver and Carson on the West coast of North America for four days, before heading to Arlington, Houston and Austin in Texas for another six days of group games.
Concacaf has unveiled the match schedule for the 18th edition of its blue riband men’s national team tournament that will be played this summer, from June 14 to July 6, in 14 stadiums across 11 metropolitan areas.
Planned to stay away from conflicting geographically with FIFA’s Club World Cup – which was originally scheduling for the East coast of the US only – Concacaf committed to a West coast and Texas hosting strategy but will play matches in Las Vegas, Glendale, St Louis and Minneapolis.
Meanwhile FIFA – always the demanding house guest – will schedule Club World Cup games directly against Concacaf on the West coast with matches at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles (not a World Cup venue), and Lumen Field in Seattle (which is a World Cup venue)..
With what looks like an overload of Club World Cup tickets, it will create a will create a direct comparison between the demand for international club fixtures compared to that for international fixtures on the West Coast.
Just one year out from the World Cup 2026, and Concacaf qualification (bar the automatically qualified Canada, Mexico and USA) reaching a critical phase, the Gold Cup provides a highly competitive tournament for the region’s best national teams – and for Canada, Mexico and USA the last truly competitive environment to test themselves.
Gold Cup tickets go on sale April 17.
