Brazil’s CBF extends Sportradar deal in battle against match-fixing

April 17 – With accusations of match-fixing now commonplace in the Brazilian club game, the Brazilian FA (CBF) has extended its integrity partnership with  Sportradar Integrity & Regulatory Services, in a bid to enhance efforts to combat match-fixing in Brazilian football.

Sportradar’s Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS), will deliver integrity monitoring for more than 8,200 men’s and women’s matches covering all Brazilian national championships.

Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF: “Strengthening the integrity of Brazilian football is a priority for this administration, and the renewal of this partnership further reinforces our commitment to this mission. The work of the CBF’s Integrity Unit, in collaboration with Sportradar, will complement monitoring by FIFA and result in more than 10,000 Brazilian football matches being covered this season. I

“It’s an impressive and symbolic milestone that makes us very proud. This is a partnership that has been bearing fruit and has been crucial in the fight against match-fixing, ensuring a fairer and safer environment for the sport.”

Sportradar’s global match-fixing report covering 2024 and published in early 2025, showed the number of matches suspected of being manipulated worldwide fell by 17% in 2024. Brazil experienced a significant decline in the number of suspicious soccer matches, with 53 fewer cases detected – a decrease of 48% – compared to the previous year.

With Brazil’s rapidly de-regulated online betting market, had come a rapid increase in suspicious betting patterns on club games, to the degree that Botafogo owner John Textor even accusing clubs of fixing games to make sure his club didn’t with the Serie A title in 2023. True or not, there is no doubt that match-fixing for betting gains is a very clear and present danger for the Brazilian club game

Andreas Krannich, Executive Vice President of Integrity & Regulatory Services at Sportradar, stated: “We have built a strong collaboration with CBF to reinforce the integrity of Brazilian football. With this new agreement, Sportradar is providing the most comprehensive coverage Brazilian football has ever had. We are very pleased to continue this partnership with one of the world’s most-renowned football organizations.”
