CAF pens partnership agreement with AGL to boost development

April 24 – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Africa Global Logistics (AGL) have signed a partnership to boost the development of the African game.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the partnership covers the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well as the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

CAF president Patrice Motsepe said: “AGL is a leading logistics company and its partnership with CAF reflects the substantial commitment by both parties to the development and growth of football for men and women in Africa.

“The CAF Africa Cup of Nations is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and attracts over 1.5 billion in TV audiences across 178 countries, with numerous African and global sponsors and partners supporting the tournament.

“The partnership of CAF and AGL will also contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of our rural and urban communities on the African Continent.”

Building on the success of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, CAF intends to further explore the partnership.

Philippe Labonne of Africa Global Logistics said: “We aim to support the successful organisation of major tournaments like AFCON and WAFCON, and also transform African football into a lasting driver of economic and social development.

“Thanks to our partnership with CAF, we celebrate the passion of millions of Africans for football, while reinforcing our commitment to local content, engaging with communities, and promoting women’s inclusion.”
