July 31 – Eight more qualifiers have made their way through to the FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final to be held in London August 15-17.
The latest qualifiers are from the Season 3 Americas Regional Final in Los Angeles which saw 32 gamers compete for eight place in the finals. There are now 30 qualifiers for the finals. The last two slots will be filled at the inaugural FIFA Interactive Club World Cup (FICWC), to be held in London on 5 August.
The Los Angeles qualifiers saw 32 gamers from North and South America compete over two days – 16 played on the Playstation platform and 16 on Xbox One.
With 16 being knocked out on day one, the 16 qualifiers from the group phase fought it out in the knockout stage, with the winners of the eight two-legged ties.
Qualifiers for London:
Playstation 4: LucasRep_98 (Brazil); Rein10 (Mexico); Nicolas99FC (Argentina); Zezinho23XX (Brazil)
Xbox One: Roma Aman (USA); Janoz CFI (Mexico); Filthyp94 (Canada); Epsilon Joey (USA).
The final qualifier sees the professional club gamers enter the competition. In total 19 professional football clubs with esports divisions will battle it out (a total of 24 players) for two places at the Grand Final.
The Grand Final winner will receive close to $200,000 (£153,000) in prize money and an invitation to The Best FIFA Football Awards.
