August 9 – Championship club Brentford have expanded their partnership with the University of West London (UWL) as part of a new three-year deal.
UWL will serve as the first team’s back-of-shirt sponsor with the logo adorning the jerseys in home and away matches. The university will also become platinum partner of the club, ensuring that its branding will be imprinted on the upper tier of the Brook Road Stand at the club’s Griffin Park home ground.
But the partnership will transcend sports. The two parties will collaborate to deliver educational programmes to help forge closer bonds between the club and students in Ealing and Hounslow.
“We are very pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with University of West London, and I thank them for their continued support,” said Brentford’s chief executive Mark Devlin. “Both organisations are major players in our community and we are looking to extend the way our partnership engages and benefits the community and students.”
“The university has achieved some spectacular results over the past 12 months and it is tremendous that we agreed a long-term extension to our partnership at a time when the club is so focused on achieving its ambition to gain promotion to the Premier League. I look forward to continuing our successful relationship with everyone at UWL.”
“As a proud member of the local community, which we serve, this relationship is enormously valuable and we look forward to the opportunities it will continue to provide our students over the next three years,” added UWL’s deputy vice chancellor Anthony Woodman.
On the opening day of The Championship Brentford were defeated 1-0 by newly promoted Sheffield United. The Bees welcome Nottingham Forest this weekend.
