August 17 – Premier League Southampton, the subject of a long running but so far uncompleted takeover by Chinese group Lander Sports, has secured a deal closer to home with the singing of local firm Utilita as its Official Energy and Utilities Partner.
Utilita is one of the UK’s leading providers of smart pay-as-you-go energy with a customer base of 550,000. Last month, Utilita reached a million supply points across the UK.
No value was put on the two-year agreement which will see Utilita offer a range of incentives to the club’s fans.
Jem Maidment, Head of Marketing & Communications at Utilita, said: “We are now a rising national brand – but our roots are very much in Hampshire. We believe in the power of football and the positive effect it has on communities… We look forward to working on a number of initiatives with the club across Hampshire, with more announcements to come later in the season.”
Saints fans who switch to Utilita will receive exclusive offers throughout the 2017/18 season including a smart meter at no extra cost, no standing charge and access to festival and music tickets through its Utiliat’s partnership with entertainment promoter Live Nation.
Southampton Football Club’s Commercial Director, David Thomas, said: “Like us, they are a fine example of a Hampshire success story and are a community-focused organisation. We believe the values they share with us will make this a partnership that can benefit the club, our fans, Utilita and also the wider area.”
