Zidane doesn’t want any cards for Christmas as Real face Al Jazira at Club World Cup

December 13 – Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is praying that none of his players pick up red and yellow cards in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The latest El Classico against Barcelona takes place just before Christmas and Zidane is surprised at FIFA rules under which any players who are booked or sent off in the competition could miss the eagerly awaited clash.

“It’s something that can happen and the players will keep that in mind,” said Zidane ahead of today’s game against the UAE’s Al Jazira. “It is a bit tough that a red in this Club World Cup can affect the league, but I am positive and I know that nothing will happen and that [all the players] will be available against Barcelona.”

Video assistant refs are being used in the Club World Cup but Zidane isn’t 100% in favour of the technology. “If we go into details, there are things that I don’t like. It’s a topic to talk about in depth and now it’s not the time.”
