December 22 – Manchester City has signed a second professional esports player, Marcus ‘ExpectSporting’ Jorgensen, who will play for City in FIFA esports tournaments ]on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) console.
In 2016 Man City signed Xbox player Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown as their first esports player. The City Football Group, owner of Manchester City, now have five esports pros under contract. New York City signed Chris Holly and Joey Calabro, while Melbourne City have Marcus Gomes.
Jorgensen was a standout player in 2017 having become the inaugural champion at the FIFA Interactive Club World Cup in August 2017. He also reached the FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final in London.
Jorgensen will debut for Manchester City for the first time at the FUT Champions Cup on January 26-28 in Barcelona. As well as representing the club at tournaments he will also play at fan events.

Jorgensen was arguably the star player of 2017 on the PS4 plafrom. “I’m extremely happy to be stepping into the next chapter of my esports career with Manchester City. 2017 represented such a successful season for me and I have the drive and ambition to take my game to the next level,” he said.
