SIGA tender contract for management of SIRVS federation governance rating system

June 26 – The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) is tendering out its sports federation rating and verification system SIRVS (SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System) that will launch in 2019.

The objective of SIRVS is to provide a benchmarking tool that assesses and rates a sporting organisations’ level of implementation of the SIGA Universal Standards. The tender is for a three-year contract beginning in January 2019 and the successful bidder will help develop the system.

Ultimately SIRVS will rate the governance performance of federations and sports generally and is their opportunity to showcase their governance – or not.

SIGA sees the implementation of SIRVS as a three-stage process. Starting with a pilotprojects to test SIRVS, the system will then rate sporting organisation that have requested a rating before undertaking a wider audit of all sporting organisations (both solicited and unsolicited).

The tender process will be overseen by Richard Caborn, Sports Consultant, Quest and former UK Sport Minister; Pedro Machado, Head of Legal Department, Bank of Portugal; and Frederic Thiry, Senior Vice President Business Ethics, ADIT.

Commenting on SIRVS,  Caborn said: “The SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System is the most important implementation tool that builds on the back of the SIGA Universal Standards.  The system should enable a credible, independent and robust mechanism to assess compliance with the SIGA Universal Standards, and should stand up to public scrutiny.  To this end, we look forward to working with the best-in-class service provider to help deliver on this ambitious vision.”
