Man City lead Europe on goal attempts, followed by Juve, OL and Barca

September 26 – Manchester City are the most exciting team in Europe if goal mouth activity is the measure. City have had a shot on goal every 4’02” so far this season. They are followed by Ronaldo-rejuvenated Juventus who have a shot every 4’33”.

The statistics from the CIES Football Observatory highlight the top three teams from each of 35 of Europe’s leagues. The data shows the Big 5 leading the way in terms of attacking play. France’s Olympique Lyonnais rank third have a shot every 4’38”, with Barcelona next highest at 4’53”, a full 66 seconds ahead of a more measured Real Madrid.

In the Premier League, Huddersfield need the most minutes on average to create a shot at 12’08”, but they are closely followed by Newcastle United at 12’08”.

Fans of Hamilton Academical in Scotland have the longest wait for a shooting opportunity – on average 18’12”.

Outside the Big 5 league, Czech side Slavia Praha at 4’33” top the rankings followed by Belgium’s Genk at 4’43”.
