January 29 – Qatar’s goalkeeper Saad Al-Dosari posted a new continental record having maintained a successive clean sheet with his country’s national team in 6 successive matches, complete 540 minutes in the Asian Cup 2019.
Qatar caught the hosts UAE unaware with 4-0 victory in Abu Dhabi last night, the highest-ever defeat for any hosts in the continental semifinal.
Al-Dosari, 28 years-old, plays for Qatar football powerhouse Al-Sadd – he was in the starting line-up with eight of his teammates.
Iran’s standout goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, kept a successive clean sheet for 5 matches, only conceding a goal (a penalty) in the semi-final against Japan after 56 minutes of the starting whistle. Ali now has a successive 506 minutes clean sheet in his credit.
Meantime, Qatar has also become the first national team in the history of the Asian Cup to win 6 matches in a row in one Asian Cup tournament without conceding a goal. The Qataris are in their first Asian Cup final and will face Japan on Friday.
