February 4 – A 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup referees workshop is being held in the Aspire Zone in Qatar for the next 12 days.
As well as participating in the workshop sessions the women will exclusively form the officials contingent for the Alkass International Cup tournament that kicks off today in Doha’s Aspire Zone.
The Under 17 Al Kass tournament is the first male tournament to be refereed exclusively by top level female referees. The officials will also use VAR technology which will also be in operation in France this summer at the women’s world cup.
This is the 7th edition of this club tournament and this year features 12 teams from 12 different countries.
Teams compete in four groups with the top eight going into knockout rounds which beaten teams will play again in ranking matches.

Group A: Aspire Academy, Rangers, Raja;
Group B: PSG, Kashiwa Reysol, AS Roma;
Group C: Bayern München, Altınordu FK, Etoile Sportive du Sahel;
Group D: Real Madrid, Spartak Moscow, Suwon Samsung
